The composition of Stainless Steel 348 Sheets and Plates consists of chromium (17-19%), nickel (9-13%), and niobium, which improves resistance to intergranular corrosion and thermal stability. The other elements are manganese, silicon, and trace carbon for higher strength and toughness. The plates have excellent mechanical properties with tensile strength at 515 MPa, yield strength at 205 MPa, and elongation up to 40%. The material possesses a Brinell hardness of about 217, with excellent high-temperature properties, and therefore finds applications in aerospace, chemical processing, and thermal power industries.
